BUMBLE BEE REMOVAL PITTSBURGH
Bumble bees are large (approximately 1″ in length), bulbous and hairy, with distinctive yellow bandings on the thorax and abdomen. They build disheveled nests underground, very often in abandoned chipmunk burrows or in ceilings/walls of basements. Bumble bee nest populations can exceed 100 fairly often and while not as aggressive as yellowjackets, wasps or hornets, they will defend their nest with vigor and can deliver a painful sting. With bumble bees, it is possible for a colony to remain in the same location as the previous year.
On occasion, nests may also be discovered in compost heaps, discarded items such as cushions, and in difficult to get at locations including under concrete slabs and sidewalks
